Welcome to Fisher College
Founded and located in Boston’s historic Back Bay since 1903, Fisher has cultivated a tradition of providing students in the greater Boston area with an affordable, quality, career-focused education. The College is a private, nonprofit educational institution approved by the Board of Higher Education of Massachusetts and authorized to grant degrees of Bachelor of Science in Management, Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, as well as various Certificates.
In 1997, Fisher College began offering online classes as a means of reaching out to students who were unable to attend traditional classroom courses. Today, Fisher Online offers a wide variety of Certificate, Associate, and Bachelor degree programs to students across the country and around the world. Fisher Online is committed to providing the college experience full-time, part-time, online, and anytime! Your academic success is our top priority and is the primary motivator for our knowledgeable and friendly faculty and staff.
Online Courses are offered to meet the needs of busy adults either unable to attend classroom courses due to distance, or by those who choose to use our highest level of convenience to meet their personal choices, busy lives and time constraints. Courses are eight-weeks long, require no campus class meetings to complete, and are delivered on the internet using the widely accepted and user-friendly academic learning system, Blackboard®. Online courses are designed for students who are:
- independent
- comfortable using their computers and email
- able to organize their time to accomplish course requirements
Online courses are available at any time of day or night and when compared to a classroom course are often increase the amount of time a student interacts and works with their classmates and instructors.

| The Bachelor of Science degree is designed to follow the Associate of Science in Business Administration, though students holding other Associate degrees are also eligible. Upon attainment of the Bachelor of Science in Management degree, the student will be ready for an entry-level career position or for graduate study. Career fields open to graduates include banking, insurance, retailing, wholesaling, human resources, advertising, government, transportation, and healthcare.

| The Health Care Management Concentration of the Bachelor of Science in Management degree, develops solid functional management knowledge and skills combined with a broad overview of issues and challenges specific to the complex field of health care delivery. Emphasis of instruction will be on developing managerial skills, especially effective decision making, required to work in today's regulated, complex health care field. Graduates will have a solid foundation of knowledge in legal issues, marketing, financial accounting, health care reimbursement systems and performance improvement methods required to meet the challenges of increasing quality while decreasing cost in health care delivery. Completing the program will prepare graduates for marketing, supervisory or middle management positions in hospitals, managed care organizations, community health centers, physical group practices, pharmaceutical companies and other types of facilities, or to advance to a graduate program of study.

| The Public Administration Concentration of the Bachelor of Science in Management degree provides students with knowledge of the issues, topics, methods and requirements they will encounter managing and administering in the field of Public Administration. The fundamentals of public administration will apply to students and practitioners who are interested in becoming department managers and supervisors in various areas of government service. It also provides enought background and history about the public sector for line managers to appreciate why the field functionas as it does.

| The Health Information Technology (HIT) program places you where the expanding arena of health care meets the cutting edge of technology. HIT related job opportunities are excellent, with options to work in hospitals, outpatient clinics, health centers, medical research organizations, consulting firms, long-term care and rehabilitation facilities, insurance companies and government health agencies. Graduates learn to organize, analyze, evaluate, compile, compute and code health data, and receive hands-on training with state-of-the-art software applications. A strong foundation is provided in filing systems and record indexes, storage and retrieval of manual and computerized data and legal issues governing release of information. Graduates who meet requirements of the Accredited program are eligible to apply to write the national qualifyng examination for certification as a Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT).

| Graduates receive a broad academic foundation for entry level careers in law enforcement, corrections, and juvenile justice, in either the public or private sector. Since these careers require working closely with a diverse public, experiencing a variety of social difficulties, the curriculum combines professional courses with appropriate social and behavioral science courses. | This two year program combines a foundation in general management theory with skill development in human resources, management, and accounting. Upon attainment of the Assoicate Degree in Business Administration, the student will be ready to enter a career or transfer to a baccalaureate program. Graduates typically find employment in fields including banking, insurance, retailing and wholesaling, human resources, advertising, manufacturing, government, transportation, and healthcare.

| Upon completion of the Medical Coding Certificate Program at Fisher College, you will have a medical knowledge base and specialized, marketable coding skills to provide you with the competitive edge needed in today's fast-paced health care industry. With work experience you can expect great pay and benefits and often times a flexible work schedule as an additional "perk." Graduates will be eligible to take the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Exam administered by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) to earn CCA (entry-level coder) credentials. Fisher College's Medical Coding Certificate Program requires a commitment to quality work and consistent completion of assignments. Of note, students need to earn a grade of "C" or better in all core courses within the curriculum, including Essentials of Anatomy & Physiology, Study of Disease, Medical Terminology, and Basic and Advanced ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 Coding. Students will need to retake any of these courses for which they earn less than a C. Also, successful completion of an 30-hour professional practice coding internship is required to graduate.
